Reliability-Aware Design Environment

nanoRVInteractive™ is a nanometer range EDA tool that interactively eliminates reliability issues during the construction of an integrated circuit’s physical design. The tool automatically analyzes for reliability phenomenon, including but not limited to electromigration, self heat and voltage drop (IR Drop) during the construction of IC layout, creating a Reliability-Aware mask design environment.

 

 

General

nanoRVInteractive™ is aimed for rapid, accurate, and efficient reliability verification and correction during the construction of a mask layout database with ease. nanoRVInteractive™ reads the layout editor’s technology file which includes reliability constraints and rules. It then performs an on-the-fly analysis of the constructed layout and advises about existing EM, SH and IR Drop issues. nanoRVInteractive™ has the capability to automatically correct these reliability issues, maintaining the process’s design rule accuracy.

In order to ensure versatility, our tool fully supports OpenAccess enabling interaction with the industry’s standard scripting languages, providing full customization possibilities.

During the construction of a mask layout block, nanoRVInteractive™ reads the built-in layout editor’s database, processes it and generates violation markers with full detailed reports about each violation.

nanoRVInteractive™- This tool is an integral part of our NanoToolBox™ suite which can be easily expanded to include all of our other interactive EDA tools.

nanoRVInteractive™- We allocated special attention to the tool’s graphical interface, making the system is easy for use, user friendly and mainly intuitive.

nanoRVInteractive™- The system interfaces with Cadence’s Virtuoso via SKILL and OpenAccess. In addition, the system offers key function access via API calls for customization and personalization purposes.

 

 

 

 

nanoRVInteractive™ works in flat or Hierarchical mode. In flat mode our tool detects violations only at the current edited level. In hierarchical mode our tool checks for reliability issues through all block levels. The main advantage of this concept is the creation of a Reliability-Aware IC layout design environment that eliminates ahead of time reliability issues that may consume significant time later in the design flow.

The program is a plug-in into Cadence’s Virtuoso platform, enabling a reliability correct-by-construction environment. The program provides full coverage for electromigration, self heat and IR Drop interactively.  The system provides a simple yet powerful EDA tool to eliminate reliability issues during the integrated circuit physical design phase. The tool includes an Auto-Correct option for automatic correction of reliability violations in existing masks layout blocks.

nanoRVInteractive™- Advice Mode and Auto-Correct Mode. The system can be set to Advice Mode allowing the user to work in a non-invasive way or adjust it to aggressively eliminate all found reliability issues during the construction of a mask layout block with Auto-Correct Mode.

 

 

nanoRVInteractive™ offers an advanced viewing system that provides an accurate graphical representation of the reliability issues within the design environment including a secured recovery mechanism to keep the block’s reliability information safe in the event of system crash or malfunction

nanoRVInteractive™- Quick description fields enable users to get all desired details about any reliability issue. The Information Window enables users to quickly assess the nature of the reliability issue and provide vital information about current and desired node conditions.

nanoRVInteractive™- Real-Time alert for reliability violations during construction of mask layout database including suggested solution. Each solution includes detailed report about the suggested method.  The system automatically corrects the reliability violation upon user’s approval.

2.      Comprehensive – This mode utilizes more details regarding NETS, their estimated currents and reliability information. It requires NET names, Iaverage/ IRMS (POWERS/NETS),  Frequency, NET Capacitance(Load), AF (Activity Factor)

Information source: Design specs, parasitic extraction tool, rough fan-out estimation, estimation based on the fan-out and the physical location of driver and receiver(s).

Currents may also include Ipeak when necessary.
